Deanna’s Plan
Whether you are trying again after a miscarriage, or frustrated that you can’t seem to get pregnant again after a successful pregnancy, the sperm meets egg plan is for women who have gotten pregnant in the past, and therefore do not have significant infertility problems that need to be tested and treated. It is also a good plan to try for a first pregnancy if you want to do something serious to increase your chances before finally going in for a doctor visit about fertility.
Even if you have had an easy time getting pregnant in the past, pregnancy tends to change your hormonal makeup, so sometimes timing is not the same as it was before. This plan will ensure that sperm gets to your egg. Whether or not a viable pregnancy results (the odds are about 1 in 4 even if you time it right), is up to nature.
Be prepared for a month of serious loving!
The Plan
Short Version:
- “Try” every other night starting Day 8
- Buy 10 ovulation predictor kit sticks
- Begin ovulation testing on Day 10
- When test is positive, “try” that night, plus two additional nights in a row
- Skip one night, then do one last “try”
- Take a home pregnancy test 15 days after your ovulation test was positive, if your period has not begun
- If your ovulation test never goes positive, continue “trying” every other night until Day 35, then do a pregnancy test if your period has not begun.
Statistics coming in from women who write me show that about 40% of post-miscarriage women will get pregnant on the first try if they are faithful to the plan, about double the number of the normal population who are not on the plan. This assumes, of course, that you waited for a normal cycle to begin after your loss, and did not begin trying before having a period after a miscarriage. Many women do not ovulate in that first cycle.
Detailed Version:
On day 8 of your cycle, counting from the first day you bled, begin “trying” every other night. Begin taking Ovulation Predictor Kits (or continue with your Ovulation computer) on Day 10. Buy two five-packs so as not to scrimp on taking them and stop too early. To make sure your OPK is working well, take your test in the afternoon or after work and do not drink any liquids or go to the bathroom for at least four hours prior to testing. (Morning is not a good time for OPKs, which look for the LH surge, which usually happens during the day.) Read your OPK instructions carefully, as usually a faint line does not indicate a positive, you need a line that is darker than the test line. LH is produced throughout your cycle and will only predict ovulation when it has a big surge. When your OPK turns positive, begin trying every night for three consecutive nights, skip the fourth night, and then once more. Then you can stop! (It is fine to continue just for fun, though!) The waiting begins.
Take a home pregnancy test 15 or 16 days after your OPK was positive if your period has not begun. Do not buy internet pregnancy tests or tests that claim to work before your period is expected. They are not well manufactured and are not reliable. They will only cause you more anxiety than you already feel in wanting to know. Please resist the urge to do a blood test at your doctor’s office just to find out sooner unless you have a medical reason to know early. Fertilized eggs that do not grow are actually a terrible but normal occurrence as much as 75% of the time, and seeing a very low put positive blood test in the first 14 days can place you on a terrible emotional roller coaster. By the time a home pregnancy test is positive, your baby has safely implanted and your odds of miscarriage are down to a normal 10%.
Should your OPK never become positive, keep the every other day trying going until day 35. I recommend at that point taking a home pregnancy test, but even if it is negative, you might want to take a quantitative hCG blood test at your doctor’s office. Remember that not every women will ovulate every month. I personally did not ovulate for two months following my first miscarriage.
As you are trying, make sure to “release” the sperm in your partner at least once during the gap between ovulation and new cycle Day 8 so that no more than 10 days elapse without new sperm production. Sperm is also a cause of genetic damage, not just eggs, so keep it fresh! If you are not successful the first month, it is not because your sperm did not get to your egg. 75% of eggs are lost within the first 14 days due to normal genetic damage or failure to fertilize. Just keep trying!
Here are a few facts that may surprise you:
- Many books tell you that sperm can last for 5 days and the egg for 24 hours. While this is technically true on the very long end (and something to follow if you trying to NOT get pregnant), most sperm will only last about two hours if you do not have fertile-quality cervical mucus for it to swim in. The sperm will struggle to swim up to your uterus, use all its reserves, and not make it. The egg typically lives only about 12 hours, so it cannot wait for long. You can now see how important that cervical mucus is! You will never get pregnant with sperm living two hours and an egg only twelve. This information is really just to make you feel better if you’ve been trying a long time and all your infertility testing came back normal. If the Deanna-plan does not work and you are faithful to it for three months, take a dose of plain Robitussin cough syrup (or any cough medicine that says “expectorant” and NOT “antihistamine”) each day (preferably a few hours prior to “trying”) starting around Day 10 until the day after your ovulation predictor goes off. It should help make all the mucus in your body runnier, including that produced by your cervix. (Oh the gruesome details required in baby-making!) The sperm in the runnier mucus will live about two days, and will be up there and ready for the 12-hour life of the egg. A NOTE ABOUT CLOMID: Clomid causes cervical mucus to dry up in 25% of the women who take it. If you notice your mucus is not plentiful as it was before taking this drug, take the Robitussin and call your doctor to make sure your really need the Clomid. If you are ovulating on your own and do not have a documented luteal phase defect, you most likely do not need it.
- “Trying” too often can actually do more harm than good. Do not try every night! You will get exhausted and sore, and your mucus–both for fertility and for lubrication–will dry up, and you will stop trying too early in the month or miss an important day. Every other day is absolutely sufficient, with three nights in a row during peak time sealing the deal.
- Don’t worry about stress! Regular old worries about getting pregnant, and if you will ever have children, are perfectly {“type”:”block”,”srcIndex”:1,”srcClientId”:”fe7da249-0690-4061-a1d1-0cad4fb53752″,”srcRootClientId”:””}normal and do NOT affect your fertility. Ignore those people who tell you just to relax and stop thinking about it. This is not their problem! The only thing that could actually affect you is serious stress, like moving to a new house, losing your job, family deaths, and other things that make you physically ill or depressed. This can delay your ovulation, or make you not ovulate in a cycle, since you will produce an excess amount of the stress byproduct called prolactin. It will not affect you for long, and the next month you should come back and be normal again.
- An early period is not an indication of an early miscarriage, even if you know you timed your trying perfectly. Usually it means that the egg was not fertilizable, and so progesterone was not adequately produced. This shortens your cycle. Sometimes eggs simply don’t develop properly during the ovulation process. It is usually a one-month problem. If you are regularly seeing that fewer than 10 days are passing between ovulation and your period, however, it’s time to be tested for a luteal phase defect. You can read more about that under hormone causes of miscarriage.
Good luck to everyone. Baby dust, baby dust, baby dust!

i had three positive pregnancy tests, but was bleeding last sunday. took another, still showed pregnant right away. my doctor’s appointment isn’t until the seventh of november. my question is, how long will i have positive pregnancy tests if i’ve miscarried?
First, bleeding can be normal in the pregnancy, if it is light and not heavy and full of clots, and especially if it stops. If it goes on for more than a few days though, you are right, you will very likely miscarry.
Your pregnancy tests will remain positive until the bulk of the blood and lining is out, as it is housing the pregnancy hormones. And your body will continue to create pregnancy hormones even in a miscarriage until everything has pulled away from the implantation spot.
Most women will find this happens within a week. But you can certainly have a missed miscarriage, where the body does not let go of the pregnancy even though it has failed, and that can take weeks without intervention.
I expect you will see the test go negative in a few days if the bleeding is heavy. Otherwise, the doctor can assess you better at your visit and schedule a D&C if it is clear the pregnancy is lost.
I’m sorry you are going through this. It is so hard and scary.
Deanna
I have been on bcps which have changed my menstration to very light or nonexistent. How do I know when day 8 is if I have not bled? Should I go by when I should have bled? (I don’t always miss a period, so I know when I should have gotten my period.)
If you have not bled yet, then you cannot really get pregnant.
The way the cycle works is that you bleed and your lining sheds. This triggers a rise in estrogen and other hormones, which leads to a spike in LH, which causes you to ovulate an egg. Once the LH falls, progesterone levels increase, which draws the blood to your uterus to build a nice thick lining in readiness for that egg, should it get fertlized. If no egg implants, signaling to hold on to the lining, then the progesterone level will fall quickly, and the lining will break away, which brings on your next period.
Without a period, your hormones will eventually kick in and start you first “real” cycle, but until you’ve bled at least once, there is no telling when that might be. Trying to conceive in earnest will frustrate you, although it is certainly safe enough to have unprotected sex and lightly see what happens.
If you have not had a normal cycle for a couple months still after stopping BCPs, then call your doctor. I would highly recommend charting your basal body temperatures and checking other fertility signs so that you might see what is going on. Just Google “Taking Charge of Your Fertility” and you’ll learn all about it.
Deanna,
How long does the LH spike last and if I started the OP tests on day 9 did I potentially miss it? currently on day 13 and no positive OP test.
Thanks.
The entire surge lasts about three days, but the spike itself only about 12 hours. Still, you should be seeing it if you test every day. Remember ovulation occurs AFTER the spike, usually 24 hours later.
I’d guess it is more likely you’ve had stress/busyness that delayed it than you missed it. Make sure you have at least four hours woth of urine saved up when you test, and afternoons are better than mornings.
Deanna,
We’re going to follow the sperm meets egg plan this month but would appreciate it if you would clarify that when you say to ‘try’ at night, do you mean just once that night, as opposed additionally at other times in the day?
When we’ve tried in the past it has been morning and night during the ovulation time.
Regards
Clare
When I say “night,” it is just a convenience term because most people work during the day and they would be trying at night. It makes no difference at all when you try. The only thing in the plan that is time-dependent is when you urinate on ovulation sticks, as the LH surge usually will not happen while you are sleeping, so afternoon is better.
You only need to try once every 24 hours, every 12 at the very most. You don’t want to tire yourself out and dry up your cervical mucus.
Good luck!
I have been on colmid for about 3mos know and I’m trying to have a baby but, nothing has happen yet I wonder if I can have any kids I’m on my 2nd day of ovulation and I had sex on the first day but we will try again on the 3rd day . I hope something happen soon I have three more cycle of clomid.
I’ve always heard that women should not have an orgasam while TTC. We should make sure that if we do then we must achieve ours first. Also man on top best TTC position???
It is actually not true that a woman should not orgasm. Orgasm is actually a gentle way of helping the sperm up to the uterus and the fallopian tubes, but really, it is not important either way. The sperm come with the reserves to swim to the egg as long as they are in fertile quality cervical mucus, which is far more important than any position or orgasm.
Good luck trying!

Hi
I am keen to try the plan but would like to ask a question for clarity… after the ovulation timing and the 3 nights every night then one night break then a gain another night… do we have to stop after that? or can we continue making love until…. I wasn’t sure whether we must stop after that? and if yes why…many thanks.
You may certainly continue to make love throughout your cycle! Most couples find that they are trying too often and without the romance and love in it, so sometimes a bit of a rest period is helpful after ovulation is confirmed.
But rest assured it is fine to do so!
We are starting your plan this month. I’m on CD5 and my DH and I haven’t BD in over a week now so I’m wondering if it’s okay to BD tonight or tomorrow before CD8 or is it important to wait until CD8 to start. I’m afraid if he goes too long this time it might not be a good thing. Thanks!
It is just fine to Baby Dance whenever you want!
I outline the minimum BD in the plan, as the problem with long-term trying for pregnancy is that couples experience burn out and only-for-procreation sex, and don’t time it correctly.
When the urge strikes–go for it!
Please help me. I did an OPK this morning and I got 2 lines. The box says that the 2 lines must be exactly the same color and the test line should actually be darker than the other. My lines were very very similar but not exactly the same and the test line was not darker. I think I wouldn’t be so confused if the line was faint. So…does this mean I need to test again tomorrow to hopefully see identical lines. Thanks.
First let me explain a little about how the test works so you can judge for yourself.
The first line is a control line, which will always be the same color so you can judge the darkness of the other line. The second line gets darker depending on how much LH is in your system. LH spikes very quickly and rapidly goes back down. So if the second line is lighter, then you are either going up or down, but your spike isn’t happening right then.
If the line gets darker after they have been almost the same, then you are about to ovulate (within 24 hours.) If it gets lighter, then you’ve missed it.
Taking your test mid afternoon (after not urinating for a minimum of four hours) tends to get you the best results. That line will only be dark for 12-18 hours, so it’s easy to miss the darkest part.
The best course of action is to have sex every day when you can, so you don’t miss it regardless of when the OPK is positive.
Deanna
Just to clarify, you say to try 3 nights in a row once you receive an positive OPK. So if we BD on CD 14, then CD 15 I receive a positive OPK, that’s three more nights in a row for a total of 4 nights in a row. Is that OK to go over 4 nights in a row? What do you suggest.
I have had one miscarriage before and have been advised to start taking Clomid due to a high FSH level. This month prior to starting to take Clomid I got pregnant, however miscarried, approximately six weeks after the start of my last period. While at the hospital for the miscarriage, the OBGyn advised me to start taking the Clomid in two days. I am still bleeding from the miscarriage, and suppose to start Clomid tomorrow. Should I start taking the Clomid and should I try to conceive so soon after the miscarriage, or is there a specific time to wait?
Is it ok to have sex 12 hours after having sex a couple days in a row? Or is it better to wait until 24 hours have passed? I’m worried that the sperm count will not have regenerated with only 12 hours. Do you know how long it takes to regenerate sperm? How much at 12 hours? How much at 24?
Thanks!
Jennifer,
Unless you have a documented case of low sperm count, you do not need to worry whatsoever about regenerating sperm. It will be there, ready to go, whenever you want to have sex. I only advise slowing down while trying to get pregnant because it can be tiring and frustrating and you will want to quit, not because of sperm count.
If your partner DOES get diagnosed with a low sperm count down the line, they will advise you as to how to time sex.
On Feb. 8th my period was 7 days late I ended up taking a HPT it came back positive….Yay! 2 days later (on a sunday feb. 10th) I went to the bathroom and wipe myself and saw blood as if I was starting my period. I only bled for that moment, put on a pad and woke up without bleeding. I got scared and went to see my doctor the next day. The doctor said I may be miscarrying but he couldn’t tell because it was too early in the pregnancy. (I am 6 weeks) He said he wanted to see me in 4 weeks. Last night it happened again I went out to dinner as I was going back home, I started bleeding again. When I got home I went straight to the bathroom and I saw I kinda bled through my pants. I just knew I was miscarrying. When I wiped my self there was a clot, like the ones I get when I am on my period, but I am not cramping at all. I put on a pad and again 15 minutes later the bleeding stopped. Now it’s today and I am no longer bleeding. Am I miscarrying?
I am 10.5 weeks along and had a brown discharge this morning. I went to the doctor on an emergency visit and they used the doppler to hear a heartbeat and there was none. Upon doing a pelvic exam and all that they said my cervix was closed and everything looked good and that not hearing a heartbeat with the doppler was perfectly normal at this point in time. They had me come back for an ultrasound and did a vaginal one, still finding no heartbeat. The baby was the length of a 9.5 week baby as far as gestational age, which seems right to me. The doctor insists on doing another doppler in 4 days, but I am concerned 4 days wouldn’t make a difference. He wants to do a D&E. My question is could he be wrong? Is there a chance the ultrasound missed it? Because there was no blood flow shown anywhere, not in the uterus or anywhere but there was a flash of color for a second over the baby. I don’t want to have a D&E and risk my baby being alive.
Erin,
Absolutely wait on the D&E. There is no reason to rush it.
The likelihood that the baby is lost is very high, but there are scenarios (rare) where the heartbeat could be missed as far as 12 weeks and the baby still be okay. You are at no risk for waiting, and it will give you peace of mind.
A better way to judge the baby will be to see if there is growth between two sonograms (at this point in your pregnancy, the blood tests would no longer be a good indicator.)
Follow your instinct on this.
I had no doppler heartbeat or sono heartbeat at 10 weeks, and Elizabeth just turned six at a diva princess party. She was simply obscured in my uterus. Like I said, follow your instinct. You will never regret waiting to be sure.

Hi… Me & my husband weren’t planning on getting pregnant, but we did. I found out I was pregnant March 15th and on the 17th in had a MC. The doctor sent me in for a quant HCG 3 days later & my #’s were still going up. They determined I was actually pregnant w/ twins. Ont the 17th of April I went in for an ultrasound because I had never stopped bleeding. I had lost the 2nd baby… exactly 1 month after the 1st. We had gotten use to the idea of having another baby & now we’re gonna use the SMEP to try.
DO you think it’s a good idea to try so hard at TTC this soon? I ask because I’d heard & read that you’re more fertile after a MC.
Thanks!
Hi Deanna,
Just woundering if personnal lubricant can effect the sperm mobility? I find with all this ‘trying’ sometimes it is hard to get lubricated naturally.
Thanks
hi deanna i am a 35 year old newcomer on this website. i would like to tell you how highly appreciated your efforts are for starting and keeping this available for everyone that needs strength, hope and information.
i had a mc in oct 07 at 8 weeks and had been ttc again since. it was abruptly halted when, as i was wanting an overall repro work up, i was diagnosed with cervical carcinoma in feb 08 and had to have cold knife conization in march. i think im getting back to my normal now after bleeding for 3 weeks with the surgery. so the ttc takes over again.
i am going to try the SMEP that you have here.
thank you so much for everything that you do. wish me luck! 🙂
Hi… I had just resently wrote about me and my husband & how we were going to ttc using the smep. Before this we had miscarried and I had also had a cysts that needed to be removed from the outside of my left tube. Now on SUnday I had to have a 2nd emergency surgery and ended up getting my right tube removed due to an ectopic pregnancy that the doctors couldn’t find for the last 3 months.
I don’t know what to do… I don’t know how to handle all this loss. Right now I want to keep the option open to have another baby someday, but I want to know is it even gonna be possible now?
I am so heart broken right now that in fact there were not 2, but 3 babies that I’ve just lost. And right now I truely beleive that there is something wrong with me. I just want some hope that after all of this I will get past the loss and be able to have and love a new babie with all my heart.
I know this is kinda a weird sinario and I don’t know if any one knows of anyone else whot his has happened to, but any advise would be great. Thanks!
deanna,
i read that the positive LH result in OPKs sometimes lasts up to 3 days but that the surge actually lasts only a few hours. i started testing for LH on my CD 13 ( i have a 34 day cycle). i got a positive (test line very similar to reference line) result on cd 17. i kept testing even after that as i still have some OPKs left. it was still positive on cd 18. On CD 19, though, the test line was even way darker than the reference line. in fact, the test line got darker first as the test was reading. we’ve been “trying” every other day as advised from CD 10 (and CD 12 and CD 14). so since CD 16, we’ve been “trying” everyday. i was just surprised to see a dark LH result on CD 19 (LH positive day 3). today is CD 20 for me. do we skip on LH day 4 now then try once more on day 5, or do we restart the 3-day-in-a-row “trying”-then skip- and once more? this darker LH on CD 19 kinda threw me off. all along i thought we had begun the daily trying ritual. please help. thanks again.
i lost my baby about 4months,i was very upset because this was my first lost , but iam going to try again. looking at the story i read give me hope to try again. thank you for the information.
i started my period on the 4th of january and i stopped on the 9th of january… on the 4th of january my boyfriend and i had unprotected sex, well i’ve been have little symptoms but not must has changed… we’re really not sure if I’m prego or not… i need help
Hi Deanna,
I miscarried in December 2008 at 8 weeks (my first pregnancy), tried on out own for 3 months with no success – then tried the Sperm meets egg plan and got pregnant the first month of trying – it was a month of serious trying since my cycle is 40 days long 😛
Hoping the little one sticks around this time

Can you take Mucinex in place of Robitussin? Today is day 8 – wish me luck!
Thanks!
Hi
My husband has been diagnosed with a low sperm count and i was interested in trying the SMEP, but just wasnt sure about the 3 days in a row, i have read that every second day is best with low sperm count.
what do you recommend trying the 3 days in a row or continuing with every 2nd night
thanks
Hi Deanna,
I had a m/c in May of 09 at almost six weeks. When I went ot the ER they told me I had threatened miscarriage and the next day I passed a clot. I did not start trying again until August 09. I took BBT in September and got erratic temps. I tried Clearblue digital OPK this month and got a positive (smiley face) on CD16. My period always comes down on CD29 or CD30. It got back to normal right after the miscarriage. I BD on CD 6, CD9, CD10, CD11, CD13, CD14, CD15, CD16, CD17. My husband has a normal sperm count. Did I deplete his sperm count and started trying to early? I agree when you said you get tired before the time. By the time we got the smiley face, we were both exhausted but kept BD. Does it look like I am ovulating again? Thank you very much. Next month I will try to follow your plan along with clearblue fertility monitor and OPK.
Felipa
Hi Diana,
Would like o thank you for such a helpful web site. It has been very helpful to me since my mc in August 2009. I started ttc last month but I did not ovulate in October. I already had my second cycle this month and I am just curious to know if there is a chance I will be ovulating this month? I am taking the OT’s every single day and I don’t see any dark lines yet. I think my cycles are 33 days apart but I am not sure. This month my period was 4 days late. Please help. Thank you.
Hi there,
Your plan sounds great and I’m going to give it a try next month but I wonder if its worked out for a ‘normal’ 28 day cycle. I have a rather short cycle of 24-26 days and often seem to ovulate the day or the day after AF stops. I think if I left it until day 8 I might miss out. Is there a way to recalibrate the plan for a shorter cycle?
Cheers,
Tami
Hi Diana
Im 31yrs and just went though a tuberal reversal once after my period started coming seven days late each month for three months after that one the forth month I didnt have a period for one month and started my period at the begining of the forth month instead of the end. We thought I was pregnant i went and had a blood test taken big mistake how disapointed we ended up when the results were neg. Ive been trying and it hasnt been working I will try your plan this cycle and write you back thank you for all your support on this page when ttc you need the truth and help instead of friends telling you to relax and the stress that you are causing yourself is stopping you from becoming pregnant.
I recently miscarried and had a D&C on April 1st. My husband and I are TTC again and I have been taking the OPK since day 10….It is now day 21 and still nothing. I am just not going to ovualate anymore?? Any advice for me??
hi i had a tubal reversal last June and i am going to try your plan this month, what do you think my chances are of getting a bfp? thanks
Hello, I just had a miscarriage Jan 13th and my D&E jan 14th.. I stopped bleeding yesterday. My doctor wants me to wait 3-6 months before trying again.. Do i have to wait that long? My fiance and i tried so long to have this child so we were crushed when i lost the baby.. I already have a living child and my pregnancy was great with her. I was 6 weeks when i lost this baby… I plan on trying your sperm meets egg plan. Is there anything else i can do to increase my chances of getting pregnant?
Amber- Take Robitussin..or any other cough medicine that contains guaifenesin. Take it starting around day 10 of your cycle, until after you ovulate. It works wonders at making your cervical mucus more hospitable for baby making. I know many women..including myself..that this has worked for. Good luck!
Hello,
I had a miscarriage at 9 weeks at age 41. I have three other children, conceived when I was 35, 38 and 39. All four pregnancies were all conceived on the first try. Since the miscarriage, I have been trying to conceive (3 months) with no luck. Is it easier or more difficult to conceive after a miscarriage? I can’t seem to find a clear answer on the internet. Also, is it unrealistic to think that I will still be very fertile at age 42 since I have been so fertile in the past? Also, I am just wondering if I should take Robitussin to give me a little help. Thanks!
Hi To All,
I felt i have to share my story with others. I suffered a miscarriage in Oct 2010 following a previous successful pregnancy and child aged 2. I was totally shocked i had lost the next child. I have been trying from teh strat of jan 2011 and for teh first time i never fell pregnant that month. In my previous two pregnancies i have fallen pregnany as anticipated. I am so glad that i followed the plan and actually had less sex but have fallen pregnant. I am overjoyed but even though i thought i knew it all and have previously found it easy to get pregnant i found out lots of new things. I hope this gives other hope and do try again. My now worry is that i hope this goes on to being a healthy pregnancy that see’s eh course and i get a healthy baby. Good luck too all.
I had a MC in December 2008 (no DNC) and got pregnant two weeks after and delivered a healthy baby boy 10.7.09, now 19 months. We have been trying for baby 2 for 8 months. Two months ago I experienced pain in my cervix and it was very uncomfortable to sit. This lasted 4 days. I was unable to get a Dr. appointment for 2 weeks and went for a Pap then. It was determined that I had not ovulated during that month so the Dr. put me on 50 mg Clomid. I took ovulation tests for 30 days and never showed ovulation; however when I went for my 21 day draw it showed ovulation. Very confused. The Dr. prescribed me 50 mg of Clomid to start on Saturday and am going to start baby asprin and Robitussum and the Deanna plan. Here’s to hoping this month. I am 37 and husband 39.
I just wanted to let everyone know that this plan WORKS!! I had 2 mc’s after I had my son and was having a hard time getting pregnant again. Nothing worked…supplements, creams, timing…nothing. We were very disheartened (to say the least). I came across this website and tried the sperm meets egg plan…I got pregnant that month!!! Now we are expecting a baby girl this fall. Thank you, thank you for sharing this with us. 🙂
I miscarried in May and thought foolishly I would become pregnant right away as soon as it was safe. When it didn’t happen I was crushed. I just happened to come across this page, tried the plan this last menstrual cycle and just tested positive yesterday!! Plus it was sooo much fun trying. =)
i’ve been on the plan of everynite. But the thing is i bleed a little after sex every other day or so.. I would not be on my period either. Why is that i bleed a little during or after sex? Is it cause of the egg developing or not developing?
Hi i have followed your plan and got positive ovulation test on days 14 & 15 and 2 days before my period was due i tested positive on a urine test it was very faint so i have tested everyday since and have all been positive and have got darker. I started bleeding yesterday 30 days after lmp i went to hospital where i was examined and they couldn’t reach my cervix they said it was so high and they done urine test which was faint positive & blood test which has come back today at 6 they said i wasn’t pregnant, i asked how have i had so may positive urine tests and they said i could have had a chemical pregnancy and to do another urine test in 2 weeks just to check. Could i still be pregnant i really don’t know what to think and don’t want to keep hoping i could be to find out in 2 weeks i’m not we have been ttc for the last 8 months and this is the 1st time trying the plan and i was so happy when we got positive results x
Ok heres the deal, i had unprotected sex november 7th to november 11and kept having sex up until i started my period on the 18th of November. i realized i was suppose to have my period November 10 and it didnt come. I was 11days late before i had my period and it only lasted 3days and wasnt heavy. I took two pregnancy tests when i was 7days late they were negative. When i got my period it was strange. I didnt cramp or anything. The night before i had sex on the 17th and that morning is when i started. It was just so odd to me. I have been havin headaches, dizziness etc. but no morning sickness or nothing. If i eat i can eat like the bites and feel so full. Should i be concerned of being pregnant?
Hi hCG test is passing after 8 days delayed period time. Is it advisable to intercourse everyday to get pregnancy or it may lead any harm to fertilized egg, Please guide me.
Hi Deanna,
We’re on CD 8 just about to start SMEPing when DH has had to go away for the night for work reasons so we haven’t had chance to BD. I have just had my first period after my miscarriage and before my miscarriage i was getting positive OPKs on CD 13 so assume i ovulate on CD 14. My question is that we will not be starting SMEP until CD 10 now but as i shouldn’t ovulate until CD 14 are we still in with a good chance?
Thank you so much
I Was suppose to ovulate on the 2nd or 3rd if oct i had sex on the 1st 2nd an,4th of oct with my bf but on the 4th i had sex with this guy hrs later does he come into play from.dates An facts he doesnt mind u on the the 1st before i had sex with my bf i was feeling nauseous an getting Hedaches an my sex drive Was up.. is that A sign of ovulation an i think i had cervical mucus too because wen he put it n it was slippery i need help i jus dont think the the other guy plays a role from my knowledge an everything i kno?
Your plan sounds great and I’m going to give it a try next month but I wonder if its worked out for a ‘normal’ 28 day cycle. I have a rather short cycle of 24-26 days and often seem to ovulate the day or the day after AF stops. I think if I left it until day 8 I might miss out. Is there a way to recalibrate the plan for a shorter cycle?
Hi! We miscarried Jan 3rd and ive had two periods since so we decided to try this month.
I didnt realize you had to take the opk in the afternoon and ive been doing it in the morning.
So my question is, i took opk March 21 at 7am and it detected lh surge. Does that mean i actually began ovulating on the 20th?
Thx!!
Hi
My question is, if your husband has a normal sperm count
but did not have good quality sperm, is this plan ok?
He has been on stamino grow for 1 month, will the frequency
of making love when getting a positive for ovulation not
be a problem?
Thank you
Hi,
I am new to this site. I’ve done the BD thing every other day until i tested positive for LH surge on CD15. We had more BD on CD15, and CD16. My poor hubby was exhausted so we didnt have any BD on CD17. Has this greatly reduced my chances of getting pregnant?
i had a miscarriage in Feb of this year and I’m currently having acupuncture to try to relax my mind and hopefully increase my chances of conceiving. i really hope this is our lucky month.
thanks
I’m sorry to bother you, I know you must get so many questions!
I am trying again following a miscarriage. I ovulate early, either day 10 or 11. Do you suggest I do anything different to your plan, ie start it on day 6 instead of 8 or do it exactly as you suggest?
Thank you for giving people so much hope and success!
Kind regards.
Catherine, since you are really on top of your ovulation, it’s fine to start on day 8. I ovulate on day 11 and I start on day 8.
The every other BDs prior to ovulation are really going to be about your schedule and willingness. The main thing is not to burn out to soon.
Baby Dust!
Going to try your plan this month after 7 months trying has failed. I was really sad today & came upon this site. I’m hoping for a BFP.

March of this year i had to terminate a pregnancy because it was a blighted ovum and then June of this year i had to terminate another pregnancy because I was pregnant in my tubes (ectopic pregnancy). My husband and i have been trying for the past 3 months with no luck. We already have a 3 year old daughter, we want a son but we don’t have any hope cause we can’t get pregnant. Should i give up?
Hi there,
On april 28, 2012 I found out I had a miscarriage – my baby was 9 weeks, but I was pregnant for 10. Then I got pregnant, and lost the baby at 6 weeks, on Nov 11, 2012. Now, on the 24th of December I had my period, very light. It just finished yesterday (the 28th). My concern is that since my last pregnancy/miscarriage my breasts have been tender. I expected (as usual) that when my period came it would go away, but its still tender! Why is that?
Hi Deanna, I just had a quick question. I have 39 day cycles, and I was wondering what day you would suggest starting the smep. I dont want to miss the perfect window, but I dont want is to burn out by starting to early either. Thanks!!
Hi..I am really trying to get pregnant my doctor put me on clomid, I been taken it for 3 months now still no sign of pregnancy. I am planing on giving up next month..but for this month after done with my clomid day 5 to 9.. My husband and I been having sex every night for about 3 nights in a row now but we planning on stopping tomorrow and then we will be having sex one day and then rest the next day.. i really wants to get pregnant and not only am i lossing hope but hes giving up as well. But today i felt a sharp pain in my lower stomach I think its gas but not sure what is it..Do you think i have a good change conceiving this month….desperate needs of answers.
Hi I ave been reading through your web site and I would be grateful if you could help me get my head around this
I have not had a period for approx 10 weeks and last Thursday I took while cramps down 1 side of my stomach and within hours I was bleeding heavy with large black clots A week later the pain has got no easier and the blood is still pouring out of me I dont want to go to the GP as i lost a child before and I couldnt cope if I was told this again but the unknowing is nearly as bad What do you think is this a miscarriage or an extra late period
Thanks for taking the time to replying to me in advance
Helen
I had a D&C on June 13.
still have not had a typical period. Although I had two days bleeding on June 13th.
two weeks ago my HCG was down to 20.
Pos OPK on July 29 (not a false pos, finally was getting neg before and after)
Progesterone confirmed ovulation but it was only 4…
I typically have short LP of 9 -10 days.
Today is 13dpo.
Is there a chance I could be pregnant? Or has my cycle just shifted post miscarriage?
I think I may be pregnant but I recently bled heavily with clots that look like the eggs in it. Do you think I am pregant? I’m really scared that I am. I have not taken a test yet.
Deanna
Thank you for your website, it has helped me after recent miscarriage.
we are now trying again and going to try the plan. My question is, is it ok to start the plan ob day 9? My hubby is away until then and now totally panicking that we will miss this month if start a day late?
Anna
I had intentions of starting the plan this month, but my body seemed to just skip my period. I tested twice so I’m not prego. I’m wondering when to start now? Act as if AF came on her scheduled day and count from there? My cycle hasn’t been a set number of days so that’s where I get a little weary… It arrived May5th and June 5th and according to my phone app was “due” July 8th. Help please!!!
I’m taking clomid for two months today is 9day of cycle my husband is out station he shall come 0n 13th day of cycle do I still have chances to get pregnant?
My questions comes from the sperm meets the egg book. In the book you said that most women do not ovulate this cycle. What cycle were you referring to? The time after miscarriage which you recommend for us not to try because doctors might have trouble dating the pregnancy. Or is it that we might not ovulate after our first cycle?
I have been trying for a baby for the last 5 years now and we have had no luck.I don’t have a regular cycle so it is hard for me to tell when i am ovulating or not, but we always have sex at least 2 times a week, sometimes more. I know it can take up to a year to conceive but everyone i know who have had a baby have conceived within 2-3 months of trying, we had a fertility test about a year ago and my womb were fine. I’m thinking it could be a problem with me but I’ve never had any symptoms of any problems. My partner does smoke and have the occasional drink, and i used to smoke and also have the occasional drink. i know i am slightly overweight but that shouldn’t affect our chances too much, one faithful day my friend told me to contact a spell caster that help her aunt ,then i contact the man on this email: fiokporspiritualtemple AT gmail. com after few weeks the doctor confirm that i am pregnant thank you DR Fiokpor for helping us get a baby
